Rad Dads & Granddads | Moto Moms & Grandmoms - Team has Started!

Welcome to one of the most exciting additions to the Oklahoma Interscholastic BMX League:

Rad Dads & Granddads

Moto Moms & Grandmom

This isn’t about being the fastest rider on the track. This isn’t about being a former pro athlete. This is about families learning something hard together.

BMX Is Different

Most youth sports place parents on the sidelines.

BMX pulls families onto the track.

At practices across Tulsa, Sand Springs, Yukon, Pryor, and beyond, we’ve watched something incredible happen:

Parents who were nervous to even sit on a BMX bike a few months ago are now pumping through rollers, learning gates, and racing alongside their kids.

And the impact has been bigger than anyone expected.

Kids light up when they see their mom or dad trying something difficult.

They see effort.

They see courage.

They see resilience.

They realize it’s okay to fall.

Okay to struggle.

Okay to keep trying.

That lesson matters far beyond BMX.

 It’s Not About Winning

The best part?

Nobody cares if you’re fast.

Seriously.

The BMX community celebrates effort just as much as results.

Some parents come out competitive.

Some just want exercise.

Some want to understand what their child experiences on the track.

Some are simply trying to spend more meaningful time together as a family.

Every single reason is the right reason.

And before long, something funny happens…

The parents start having just as much fun as the kids.

The BMX Community Is Built Different

One of the most unique things about BMX is that nearly every person at the track remembers being new.

That means beginners are welcomed.

Cheered for.

Encouraged.

You’ll see experienced riders helping parents line up at the gate.

You’ll hear kids cheering for their grandparents.

You’ll watch entire families celebrating clearing a jump that terrified them two weeks earlier.

That’s BMX.

It’s competitive.

It’s challenging.

But it’s also one of the most supportive sports communities you’ll ever find.

What Is The Parent Team?

The parent team is designed for:

* Parents

* Grandparents

* Guardians

* Family members who want to ride too

Participants can:

✅ Ride during practices

✅ Learn BMX skills alongside their rider

✅ Build confidence and fitness

✅ Purchase optional team jerseys and number plates

✅ Race if they choose

No experience required.

No age limit.

No pressure.

Just show up willing to try.

 More Than A Sport

At the Oklahoma Interscholastic BMX League, we believe BMX can change lives.

Not because everyone becomes a champion racer…

but because BMX teaches perseverance, confidence, discipline, and community.

And now families are experiencing those lessons together.

Some of the strongest moments we’ve seen this season haven’t happened during races.

They’ve happened when:

* A dad finally rolled a jump he was scared of

* A grandma made it around the track for the first time

* A mom lined up in the gate beside her child

* A family left practice smiling together after a hard day

That’s the real win.
